Rise Up Community Arts will be hosting a free, family-friendly outdoor concert celebrating swing, soul, and rhythm at the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park.

Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket and your favorite lunch to settle in for an exciting afternoon. Arrive early to get a spot so you don’t miss the sounds of a full big band. Dancing is encouraged!

Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food item to support REPLENISH, the Middlesex County food bank.

Saturday, June 14 at 11 am, we will be hosting Kirk Bauer. An expert on Edison’s Kinetoscope, the first motion picture camera, he will be giving an engaging discussion.

This is an outdoor event which will be held in a tent. Refreshments will be provided.

Additionally, this event will also serve as our annual membership meeting so all members get in FREE with the option of 1 guest!

Our annual Spring Beautification will take place on Sunday, June 1 from 9am-1pm. Working with the Edison Township Environmental Commission, Terra Nova Garden Club and SEWA USA, we will primarily be planting, weeding and mulching the grounds. Tools and supplies are limited, so we encourage you to bring your favorite pair of shears or gloves.

Please also make sure to dress appropriately for the event!

Tuesday May 6th will be our 11th Annual Golf Outing, held at the Metuchen Golf and Country Club.

8am registration begins and the day will wrap up with lunch and awards at 2pm.

Saturday May 3rd, we have our collaboration with the Terra Nova Garden Club for their annual plant sale. From 9am-2pm, they will be selling many varieties of plants. Come out to support another wonderful non-profit!

April 27th, our museum will be open, but a contingent of our staff will be at the Mechanical Music Extravaganza at the Wayne Police Athletic League from 9:30am-3:30pm to promote our museum at one of the largest phonograph meet-ups in the country, bringing together collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world. This is a fun event for enthusiasts! 

Saturday, April 19 at 11am, we are having an Arbor Day event. A three part collaboration with Metuchen Edison Women’s Club, the Terra Nova Garden Club and the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park, we will be planting 3 beautiful evergreen trees on our site behind our wonderful light bulb sculpture.

Announcing an upcoming event celebrating Thomas Alva Edison's birthday right here at Menlo Park. Join us on Saturday, February 8th for National Inventors' Day 2025, a special afternoon event hosted by the New Jersey Emergency Communications Team. The event is weather-contingent and runs from 10:00am-4:00pm. See you there!

September 21st, we will be hosting an event, Early Lighting Technology and More!  Our special guest speaker, Chad Shapiro is an international lighting historian and will be giving an informational speech for patrons and members.

The event will be hosted outdoors in a large tent.

Grammy-nominated artist Michael Devecka will demonstrate original phonographs at our museum, the birthplace of recorded sound, on Saturday, June 15 at 11am. This invention earned Edison the nickname, the ‘Wizard of Menlo Park’.

This event is a fundraiser for our museum and will support our efforts, seats are limited and preregistration is recommended. This is an outdoor event which will be held in a tent on-site.

Admission is $10 for Non-Members and $5 for Members. Tickets can be purchased through our gift shop here.

TECMP was invited to Community Day: Made in Newark, hosted by The Newark Museum of Art. We will be doing demonstrations of Thomas Edison’s inventions. We will also be discussing his connection to Newark where his first workshop was and where he would awkwardly meet his first wife, Newark native, Mary Stillwell!

Hello! Join us here at Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park supporting the Terra Nova Garden Club's Annual Plant Sale on May 4th! The Terra Nova Garden Club helps support the beautification of our grounds. The plant sale will begin at 9am and last until 2pm! If you're interested in joining a wonderful group of people, they meet the 4th Wednesday monthly the Outreach Center (formerly Oak Tree Presbyterian Church). New members always welcoming! The Edison Memorial Tower Corporation and Edison Environment Commission partnered with SEWA International welcomes volunteers to engage in an extensive cleanup and beautification initiative at Thomas Edison State Park.

Collaboratively, volunteers will clear fallen trees, prune bushes and shrubs, and create walking trails leading to a pond on the expansive 36-acre Menlo Park property.

The Trail of Terror is back! Hosted by the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park, the Edison High School Drama Club provides chills and thrills along the Edison State Park’s trails. Stop by for a night of Halloween fun.

Event begins at 6:00pm and is first come, first serve. Space is limited!

Tickets are $4.00 per person and can be purchased the day of the event either at the door or at the Harvest Fun Fest.

Visitor discretion is recommended for children under 12.

Spring is just around the corner! Please consider joining us in May to help beautify the park!

We need volunteers to help clean up, plant flowers, trim bushes, mulching and other general outdoor cleaning activities.

No experience necessary. Perfect for community minded people, students, scouts, clubs, etc. Service hour letters given.

We have some tools but it would be very helpful if you could bring your own as well. Make sure to mark any tools you bring.
